RWD customers are eligible for a free residential water use survey provided by Waterwise Consulting Inc. This complimentary service is sponsored by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD).
Special Opportunity for Disadvantaged Communities
As an added benefit to RWD customers, participating properties located within Disadvantaged Communities may qualify for up to $650 in irrigation retrofits (while funds last).
Here’s how it works:
- Schedule Your Water Use Survey – Begin by applying and scheduling your free water use survey. This survey is completed in-person with the customer. It provides an excellent opportunity to learn the “ins and outs” of your indoor and outdoor home water use from a certified professional. Customers may choose to perform the outdoor survey only for the purpose of qualifying for the irrigation retrofits.
- Receive Your Assessment – After the survey, Waterwise Consulting, Inc. will provide you with detailed report of your property’s water use and recommendations to improve home water use efficiency.
- Check Your Retrofit Eligibility – If your property qualifies, you could receive up to $650 in irrigation retrofits. If the total cost of retrofits exceeds this amount, the customer will be responsible for covering the difference, which must be paid directly to WaterWise Consulting, Inc.
Don’t miss this valuable opportunity to improve water efficiency at your property! Take advantage of the free residential water use survey and Irrigation Retrofit program (if eligible). The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that inefficient irrigation systems are responsible for up to 25,000 gallons of water wasted annually per household. The Irrigation Retrofit Program is designed to help customers claim that water back with modern and efficient irrigation system upgrades to keep the water where it is supposed to be, on your landscape.
If your property qualifies for the irrigation retrofits, professional installations may include:
-
- High-efficiency sprinkler nozzles
- Conversion from spray to drip irrigation
- Capping of unnecessary sprinkler heads
- Weather-based irrigation controller(s)
- Irrigation controller programming/re-programming of retrofitted zones
What is NOT included:
-
- Installation of new irrigation systems (existing system retrofit only)
- Digging, trenching, or reconfiguring of underground pipes
- Retrofit of mixed stations/zones (i.e., combination of different irrigation equipment types or combination of plant material with different water requirements)
- Retrofit of irrigation systems with issues such as a broken line, a broken sprinkler, leaking or malfunctioning valves, or electrical issues at the controller (customers will be given thirty [30] days to make necessary repairs to remain eligible).
Per survey findings, installations may include high-efficiency sprinkler nozzles, drip irrigation, weather-based irrigation controllers (up to two per customer account), and capping of unnecessary sprinkler heads. On the day of installation, the installer will walk the customer through the items to be retrofitted and begin work (installations usually take 2-4 hours to complete). Once the installation is complete, the installer will program/reprogram the irrigation controller(s) for retrofitted zones.
All installations will be performed by qualified and trained employees. All installations will be done by manufactures’ specifications and all warranty documentation and user manuals will be left with the customer for any controllers installed. The customer will be given any devices (e.g., sprinklers/nozzles/controllers) that are removed during the installation.
